September 29, 2022: Treasurer of Political Committee “Team 30 Slate” Pleads Guilty to Theft

Maryland State Prosecutor Charlton T. Howard, III announced that Alexandra Gilbreath, former Treasurer for the political committee “Team 30 Slate,” pleaded guilty today in the Circuit Court for Anne Arundel County to misdemeanor theft.  

The Honorable J. Michael Wachs sentenced Ms. Gilbreath to probation before judgment with one year of probation and ordered Ms. Gilbreath to complete one hundred hours of community service and to pay restitution in the amount of $4,321,21.

According to the statement of facts in support of the plea, Ms. Gilbreath, who served as Treasurer for the “Team 30 Slate,” transferred money from the “Team 30 Slate” bank account to her personal Venmo account, which she in turn used to pay for personal expenses.

“It is essential to the success of our electoral process that campaign officers are honest stewards of funds donated to campaigns, and our office will continue to work to ensure compliance with our State’s election laws,” said State Prosecutor Howard. “State Prosecutor Howard continued, “I would like to thank and acknowledge our partner, the Maryland State Board of Elections, for their work on this case.
