Former Attorney Charged with Felony Theft from Clients

State Prosecutor Emmet C. Davitt announced today that Roger L. Harris, Jr., former attorney, was charged with theft of approximately $74,795.23 from clients of his law practice. The charges allege that, between July of 2014 and August of 2016, Harris, while acting in his capacity as an attorney, misappropriated client funds to his own use and benefit. This matter was referred to the Office of the State Prosecutor by both the Baltimore County State’s Attorney’s Office as well as the Attorney Grievance Commission of Maryland. Harris was disbarred from the practice of law in the State of Maryland on May 25, 2017.

State Prosecutor Emmet C. Davitt stated: “Attorneys, who act as both an adviser and a fiduciary to their clients, hold a position of trust and violation of that trust is indefensible.”

Although charged, the Defendant is presumed innocent unless and until there is a conviction.
