July 20, 2016: Former Pocomoke City Police Chief and Lieutenant Charged with Conspiracy and Misconduct in Office

FORMER POCOMOKE CITY POLICE CHIEF AND LIEUTENANT CHARGED WITH CONSPIRACY AND MISCONDUCT IN OFFICE

 

State Prosecutor Emmet C. Davitt announced today that former Pocomoke City Police Chief Kelvin Sewell and Police Lieutenant Lynell Green were charged in the Circuit Court for Worcester County with one count of conspiracy to commit misconduct in office and one count of misconduct in office. The charges allege that, in November of 2014, Sewell and Green willfully interfered with the investigation of a motor vehicle accident by subordinate officers in order to benefit Douglas Matthews, a local correctional officer.

 

State Prosecutor Emmet C. Davitt stated: “Police officers take an oath to uphold the laws of the State without partiality or prejudice. Any disregard of that oath should never be tolerated. ”

 

Although charged, the Defendants are presumed innocent unless and until there is a conviction.
