November 17, 2015: Carrie Lauren Taylor, Former Treasurer of the Cecil County Republican Central Committee, Sentenced for Felony Theft

CARRIE LAUREN TAYLOR, FORMER TREASURER OF THE CECIL COUNTY REPUBLICAN CENTRAL COMMITTEE, SENTENCED FOR FELONY THEFT

 

State Prosecutor Emmet C. Davitt announced today that Carrie Lauren Taylor was sentenced by the Honorable Michele D. Jaklitsch, Circuit Court for Anne Arundel County, on her conviction of felony theft of more than $1,000.00 from the Cecil County Republican Central Committee (CCRCC). The Court imposed a sentence of five (5) years incarceration, which it suspended in favor of five (5) years of supervised probation. Ms. Taylor was also ordered to pay restitution to CCRCC in the amount of $8,859.69 and to perform 200 hours of community service.

 

According to a statement of facts presented at the time of Ms. Taylor’s plea of guilty on August 17, 2015, Ms. Taylor made numerous unauthorized purchases using the CCRCC debit card and cash from various CCRCC fundraising events while serving as Cecil County Republican Central Committee (“CCRCC”) Treasurer. Purchases included two airline tickets for personal travel, a membership with an online dating website, and to pay for the parking garage at her place of employment. Between December 2010 and December 2014, Ms. Taylor stole $8,859.69. A copy of the complete statement of facts submitted to the court is available at osp.maryland.gov.
